"LETTER FROM THE FOUNDER"
The girls are still vaping, the next-door neighbor’s dog is still barking uncontrollably, and everyone is still addicted to social media but for some reason, the wind feels different. Throwing my scarf over my shoulder and saddling up with my overfilled tote bag back on the bus from NYC to DC, it's safe to say I feel the new year's spirit.
Still an infant, ODF Studios spent the space year figuring out everything but our name. I didn’t quite realize what Ol Dirty Fashion had the potential to do until our SS23 Show Phantasmion. Producing a runway show for designers was no small feat. By the end of it, I realized that black and brown artists were in need of more producers.
Everyone wants to be an artist, designer, even I did not too long ago. But I recognized that we have plenty of creatives in our community who could benefit from quality production. I took ODF from a blog to a production house.
Breathing in the polluted air of 2023, ODF is anew. We are replicating our highs and learning from our lows. We are expanding our ventures from the ostracizing nature of fashion. We are curating experiences and opportunities for black artists. We are broadening the lens to acknowledge those who have been looked over. We are creating space for underrepresented communities. ODF—we are crafting glitter from dust.
